The Issues

Education

Negative and harsh interactions with the court system only worsen the school to prison pipeline. Students from our communities need a judge who is compassionate and can relate to their struggles when passing on judgments.

Evictions

Our country is in the midst of an eviction crisis. Covid has only accelerated these effects – many of our community staples have been lost. We have to tackle this crisis head-on by emphasizing fairness and compassion to preserve our longstanding community culture.

Housing

There is a distinctive difference between a landlord and a slumlord. Many of our community members are living in homes that don’t meet their basic needs due to housing legislation that doesn’t advocate for them. Unfortunately, they aren’t aware of their rights.

My tenure on the bench will be dedicated to working with the appropriate stakeholders to help solve the most pressing issues around housing in the precinct and educate the public on their rights as tenants.

Small Businesses

Small claims can encompass disputes between two parties over property or money.

It is imperative that we have a quick and timely process for processing these cases so that businesses can thrive and help make our communities more fruitful and inhabitable.

Public Nuisances

Community institutions, individuals, and businesses are all neighbors in our communities. Oftentimes constituents are vocal about what  they hope their community will look and feel like.

I plan to allocate your county dollars to address these issues to help beautify and keep the peace in our communities.

Modernization

Thanks to updates in technology, some court services can be transitioned online, saving the time of members of our community and the county’s tax dollars.

Precinct 2 has one of the highest concentrations of Spanish-speaking individuals in Harris County. It is important to provide certified translators.

En mi corte, si se va hablar español.
